ShopMate Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 17, 2026

ShopMate is a shopping list app.

This policy describes the local-only production version of ShopMate. In this version, cloud sharing, account sign-in, and online synchronization are disabled.

Local-only production version

In the local-only production version of the app, cloud sharing, account sign-in, and online synchronization are disabled. Lists, items, images, and the app database are stored on the device. Certain optional features, such as voice recognition, may use an external system service and an internet connection to perform the action requested by the user.

Information stored in the app

Data stored by the app may include shopping list names, product names, quantities, notes, and item status. In the local-only production version, this information is stored locally on the device and is not sent to our servers.

Accounts and cloud features

The local-only production version does not require users to create an account. If cloud sharing, account sign-in, or online synchronization are introduced in a future production version, this policy will be updated before those features are made available.

Voice Input and Speech Recognition

When the user chooses to add items using voice input, ShopMate uses the speech recognition service configured on the device.

Depending on the device, operating system, language, and speech recognition service settings, voice data may be transmitted over the internet to the speech recognition provider for the purpose of converting speech into text. The service may be provided by Google, the device manufacturer, or another provider configured by the user.

ShopMate does not store a copy of the voice recording, does not add the recording to the app database, and does not use it for advertising or behavioral analytics. The app receives the recognized text from the speech recognition service and uses it only to add the requested items to the shopping list.

Voice input is optional. The user may decline microphone access and continue using the rest of the app.

Before the first use of voice input, the app displays an explanation and asks the user whether to continue. The user may cancel without affecting normal use of the app.

Use of the speech recognition service may also be subject to the privacy policy and settings of the speech recognition provider configured on the device.

Data sharing

ShopMate does not sell user data.

Deleting data

Users can delete lists and items inside the app. Users can also uninstall the app to remove local app data from the device.
